Thanks for letting me and my readers get to know you.
Dan is the blogger behind ‘Daddynessblog‘
A little about Dan;
My name is Dan and my online alias is Daddynessblog. I’m 25 years old. I live in the north of England with my wife, Charlotte and my two monsters Noah and Amelia.
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for literally 2 weeks and I love it.
How many children do you have and how old are they?
We have 2 kids named Noah (1 and a half years old) and Amelia (6 months old).
What was the reason for starting your blog?
I started my blog because I enjoy writing about my experiences. They make me laugh and I thought, why not share them for others to have a good laugh at me!
What is your blog about?
My blog is a humourous, real-life parenting blog. I was sick of the lies that an average parenting book told me. And decided to tell the real side.
Where do you get your inspiration?
My kids are my inspiration. When anything happens that I think is worth writing about and others will enjoy, I jot it down in notes on my iPhone and draft it later when the kids are in bed.
Are you a full-time blogger or do you work aswell?
I wish I was a full-time blogger! But no, I am also in the army.
How do you manage to fit blogging in to your daily life?
I like to think of myself as the ’eminem’ of blogging. I write down notes and references whenever I get a chance and I add a bit to blog entries when I get a few spare minutes here and there throughout the day.
Did you follow any blogs before you started blogging?
I’m a big fan on Man Vs Baby blog. He was my inspiration really. But I never read any blogs before I started.
Where would be your ideal holiday?
My ideal holiday would be the Maldives.
Do you have any plans on growing your family?
Me and Char both want more kids, but 4 maximum – half way there!
How do you relax when you get chance to?
I like to relax with a cup of tea and a good book. And writing my blog too obviously!
What qualities do you think are important for a parent?
I don’t think you ‘know’ the qualities to make a good parent before you begin. I believe you learn these as you go and as long as my kids are happy, that’s all I care about.
What makes you laugh?
I have an immature sense of humour so farts I find highly hilarious. I base my blog on humour to make it interesting and relatable. Comedy is a good trait to have I think.
What is your pet peeve?
Pet peeves are: running out of tea bags, littering, loud chewers and ignorance.
Do your children do anything that gets under your skin?
The only thing that I would change would be being able to make my kids stay in bed past 6AM.
Has becoming a parent stopped you doing anything?
I recently wrote an entry on this and I don’t think kids stop you from doing anything. You just adjust to doing what you once did, but with kids.
How did you find the pregnancy? Was it difficult or a pleasure?
I firstly felt sick (for some reason) and then the adrenaline kicked in when the labour started, and I felt more sick.
What’s your favourite thing to do when you don’t have your children?
I like to read and sleep when I get time to myself.
What do you normally have for breakfast?
Breakfast is either toast or Cheerios with a pint-size cup of coffee.
Do you have any advice for first time parents?
Advice for new parent would be to trash your house and clutter it with toys, play an MP3 file of just screams and crying and empty your bank account and flush the cash down the toilet.
What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done since becoming a parent?
I once fell asleep in the labour ward on the hospital bed whilst my pregnant wife was taken away to have her waters broken. The midwife returned and looked very angry at me under the covers, shoes off, pushing out the Z’s.
Do you consider yourself a strict parent?
I am not super strict by any means. I verbally tell off my kids so they know what they’re doing is wrong but I don’t scream at them and make them do lines etc.
